Sunday Evenings of the Great Fast

Stichera of Repentance at "Lord, I have cried," Tone 4

Automelon

Fain would I wash away the handwriting * of my sins and trespasses, O Lord, with my flowing tears, * and through repentance I would be pleasing * unto thee throughout the remainder of my life. * But lo, the foe doth deceive me * and wageth battle against me. * Save me before I utterly perish, O Lord my God.

to the same melody

Which of the storm-tossed that taketh refuge * from the tempest in this harbor shall not be saved thereby? * Or which of those in distress that kneeleth * in this house of healing shall not be cured thereby? * Maker of all that existeth * and healer of those in sickness: * Save me before I utterly perish, O Lord my God.

Wash me with my tears, O Saviour, for I am defiled by many sins. Wherefore, I fall down before thee. I have sinned, have mercy on me, O God.

I am a sheep of thy rational flock, and I flee unto thee, the Good Shepherd. Seek me out who am gone astray, O God, and have mercy on me.
